ParticipantNorth Shore Fire Department seeks experienced candidates for the position of Finance Director. The Finance Director is part of the executive leadership team of the Department. The Department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the City of Glendale and Villages of Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, River Hills, Shorewood and Whitefish Bay in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
The Finance Director is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of all department operations. This includes overseeing accounts payable, billing, collections, investment and cash management and maintenance of financial records and payroll.
The position also oversees administration of employee benefits and risk management programs for the Department.
In partnership with the Fire Chief, the Finance Director plays an integral role in the development of the Department’s annual budget and capital improvement plan. The Finance Director provides financial reporting and financial plans to the Department’s Board of Directors and other key stakeholders. Experience working with elected officials in reporting and budget management is critical to this position.
The Department values fiscal transparency to our stakeholders and is a Government Finance Officers Association Triple Crown Winner receiving recognition for excellence in financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have at minimum:Bachelor Degree in accounting, finance, public administration or other related field of study.
o Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices.
o Three to five years of progressively responsible work experience in the areas of accounting, budget preparation and review, cost and fund accounting, financial reporting, internal auditing and treasury functions.
o Knowledge of employee pay and benefit systems, including Wisconsin Retirement System and health insurance program administration.
o Strong ability to work with employees to assist with them with benefit programs offered by the Department.
o Complete personal and professional integrity.Salary/Benefits: $100,000 – $120,000 dependent on qualifications and experience. In addition to salary, the Department provides a comprehensive benefit package including health, life, dental and vision insurance, paid time off (vacation, holiday, personal days and sick leave) and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
